After the Invasion of Iraq in April, 2003, Saddam Hussein went missing. After an intensive search he was found and captured by American soldiers in December, 2003, outside his hometown of Tikrit. He was turned over to Iraqi authorities, who tried and convicted him for crimes against humanity. He was executed by hanging on November 5, 2006.

When the United States army fought his forces in Iraq, they found him in an underground hiding place. They turned Hussein over to the Iraqi government. After a trial, he was found guilty of a number of serious charges against his people. The penalty was death and he was hung.
