The tooth is being prevented from erupting into the mouth by a layer of bone over it. This can be fairly typical of wisdom teeth. This may require surgical extraction which is not as scary as it sounds. Involves your dentist making a small incision and removing some bone to get at the tooth.

when the third molar or wisdom tooth fails to breakthrough the skin, it is becomes entrapped with the jawbone. The tooth is completely covered by bone. There are many reasons why this occurs, therefore, removal may be possible (although sometimes complications occur).

This term means that your wisdom teeth are still in your jaw bone completely surrounded with bone. They have not grown up where the top of them would be exposed.

"Bony impaction" describes the kind of improperly formed wisdom tooth. Impaction means not fully exposed; bony means partly or fully covered in bone.
