The common thought is that the "All Seeing Eye" on the dollar bill is a Masonic symbol. While this is true, the eye on the dollar was not chosen because of a Masonic connection. The eye represents God watching over the en devours of the United States. It did not appear on the dollar until the 1940's.

The eye on the dollar bill represents the "All-Seeing Eye of Providence. " Some people interpret it as meaning that "God is Watching. " Others interpret it with the Latin meaning "He Approves Our Endeavors. " It was designed by Benjamin Franklin and a group of men and took them four years.
