The fees paid to attorneys in arbitration are generally worked out prior to the arbitration and are set forth in a contract with the client.

The attorneys for the plaintiff (asking for the award) will likely have an agreement for a percentage of the award. The defense has specific fee arrangements with its client.

The standard rate is ususally twenty five to thirty five percent. However some teams will make special arrangements according to the size of the award. It the amount is over a certain amount they will get an additional piece of it.

I believe they settle the disput between the parties and either distribute any funds or rewards. This is done usually after the court makes a final ruling on the results of the arbitration.
