What does it take to become a commercial airline pilot?

To work for a major airline they like you to have a degree in avionics. However, you don't have to have a degree. Most of it is instrumentation, flight time, and experience along with the license.

For a certificate, you must pass commercial pilot ground school, log 250 flight hours, and be approved by Federal Aviation Examiners. Being hired requires medical exams and additional flying experience.

You need to have passed the tests and earned the various licenses, type ratings, etc. , and have a certain number of flight hours. Technically, you do not have to have a degree, but there is such competition for flying jobs that it would be helpful, possibly even necessary when it comes to success in the hiring process.
