What does it mean when my video player is "buffering"?

Buffering pretty much means "loading" so it's trying to load whatever video you are playing. Some are better at this than others. I find quicktime and Realplayer are the worst. Windows media player always works for me, though.

it means your video player is still storing the video data in its cache.

The video player has not yet recieved all of the data it needs to play the file; you will need to wait until the video player recieves enough data.

It's downloading more video so that it can offer seamless playback. If it pauses to buffer, the download speed is too slow to catch up to the playback.

Sometimes the video file is playing faster than new video data is arriving. When this happens, the video player pauses the video to acquire more material.

That means that it is loading the game and trying to make it look and sound nice and clean. it is basically cleaning up the picture and the sound. If did not not do that your games would sound weird and look weird.

Buffering basically means that the video is trying to load. Buffering may last for a few seconds or minuetes depending on how fast your internet connection is. Sometimes its just easier to load the video before you watch it.
