Perk test is short for percolation test. For a septic system to work properly the land has to be able to absorb the liquids from the tank. Yours won't.

A perk test tells if your land can absorb quickly enough to maintain a septic system. If your land fails you will need speak with a septic company to determine what can be done to place a system on the property.

If your land failed a perk test, it would mean that your soil does not drain properly. "Perk" is short for percolation. If water does not drain properly, this could cause problems with the drainage and leach fields. Also, if water does not drain properly, sewage backup may occur and water may pool in the yard.
