It could mean a lot of things. It is normal for people who exercise a lot, just had a baby, or live at high altitudes. If your platelets are still sticky, they can stick together and cause an embolism.

A high platelet could be present in dehydration. It can also be 'reactive' in response to an infection or anemia. If it persists it is called thrombocytosis and needs investigations.

First talk this over with your doctor. Ask him the risks of having this. It is different for the young and old. It could be serious. I have a high count. Many years ago I give the platelets to a cancer patient, at that time I was told it would help their immune system.
