Currently George Bush is residing in Dallas, Texas and is the owner of Valley Ranch. I am unsure as to whether he is actually currently employed, however, he does own several companies from which he likely draws residual income without actually "working" a 9-5 job as most other americans do to earn a living.

George Bush does what many ex-presidents do...claim to keep a "low profile" while making occasional public appearances and planning the library to be named after him. Bush has been very public about raising funds with fellow ex-president Clinton for natural disaster victims in Haiti and writing his memoirs--both ventures will surely proove to be profitable.

George Bush, like many ex-presidents, earns a very large speaker's fee for public speaking engagements. In addition to making public appearances at conferences and other events, Bush was independently wealthy before becoming president and most likely lives off the investments he had made previous to entering politics. He now lives in a gated community in Dallas, Texas.

The salary of an ex-president for "retirement" is actually around $200,000 a year. He is working for causes such as support for Haiti and may write memoirs like Bush Sr.
