A doctor would prescribe this medication to treat a bacterial infection because it prevents bacteria from growing. Some examples of bacterial infections it treats are pneumonia, brucella, and chlamydia.

It is an antibiotic and treats many bacterial infections. Urinary infections, acne, gum disease and sexual transmitted diseases are treated with this medication. It can be used in combination with other medications to treat patients.
