It is an instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure. The change in air pressure can predict an oncoming storm such as when the air pressure drops. Air pressure, combined with the wind, makes it possible to predict weather conditions that are in the near future. Barometers are set for sea level, and must be reset according to geographical locations.
