There aren't any rules. The leader of the seance may have specific words in mind that s/he believes will inspire the desired contact with the departed.
First I must warn you that ALL seances are fake. (I've interviewed many people who got rich from these scams. ) Typically, one stays silent and a ghostly-sounding voice speaks.
