Trans-continental flights have some amenities on board. Regularly schedule movies (on-demand in first class), video games & music. Check the recommended exercise brochure to avoid cramping. Drink lots of water

There should be movies and TV shows available for viewing on the flight. You could also try to sleep, read a book, play a hand-held game, knit a scarf, talk to a friend, or listen to music. I recommend bringing a few things to do to pass the time.

In flight entertainment, including movies, will be shown, so be sure to have headphones. Also, you can bring your own computer and watch DVDs or rent a DVD player in the airport for the flight. Also, be sure to periodically get up and walk around to prevent blood clots.

Here are my recommendations for surviving a long flight. 1. Bring a neck pillow and sleep as much as possible. You may also want to take a sleeping pill. 2. Bring your fully-charged iPod. 3. Watch the in-flight movies. 4. Bring books and magazines. 5. Do little exercises in your seat to keep your circulation going (I'm not kidding.)

Take a handful of valuum and hope the arm rests fold up? Actually, I would consider taking something to sleep for half that time. Or more.
