This will require vet care as there are so many reasons for dogs to lose hair including mange mites, ringworm fungus, flea or other allergies, seasonal hair loss, autoimmune disorders etc. Depending on the problem the solution could be diet change, flea prevention, treatment for skin infection, or melatonin.

First, you need to take the dog to the vet. Mange, mites, and allergies can cause hair loss, and using proper medication will be necessary to stop the problem. Also, sometimes older dogs start losing their hair. If this is the case, there really isn't anything to do.

Your vet can help you find the reason for canine hair loss and determine the treatment. Itching due to fleas requires flea dips and spraying your house. Mange requires medication and special baths. Other reasons for hair loss could be allergies, poor diet or medical conditions such as thyroid problems.

Most of the time, shedding is a characteristic of that particular breed of dog, or the different breeds combined in your dog. Double coated breeds will shed more than most. When the temperature is higher, hair loss increases. It's really nothing to worry about. Place covers on your couch or chairs or create an outside space for your dog.

A supplement called Brewer's Yeast may help. It can be purchased in any pet store and you should consult the bottle for the correct dosage for your dog's size.
