What do the color coded cables mean on my home theater system?

Yellow means video. Red and white are two channels of audio. On a home theater according to your brand there could be more colors. Plug the correct color in the matching hole.

It just depends- different cable color cables mean different things, they came up with that system to make it pretty well idiot proof.It took me a while to figure it out and im 63 years old. But once you read the directions on the specific system you have,its easy.

The yellow is the video cable. Connect it to the video input socket of the TV to see the video. The red and the white cables are your audio cables. The white one represents the left speaker and for mono mode use. The red cable is for the right speaker and is needed for playing audio in stereo mode.

there are usually three color coded cables one is for picture. The other two are for the left and right speaker. On the back of the TV there are plug-ins, plug the matching ones in.

Red and white are audio wires. The white is usually the left hand stereo wire, while the red is the right hand stereo wire. Yellow is the video wire. Make sure you are connecting the white wire to the white outlet, the yellow to yellow, etc. You can connect a TV to a DVD player or VCR using these wires.

They are colored so you can tell which output on your DVR goes to which output on your TV. The colors of the cables don't matter, as long as you make sure you plug each cable into the same color outlet on both devices.

they mean that the person that manufactures the cables are the same as the cables will show distinct resemblence to the producer and where the tv or dvr sets are coming from , for example , pink cables are for toshiba , blue cables are for sony , green cables are for panasonic.There are more examples.

If you are referring to the standard red, white, and yellow stereo cables, the red and white carry the right and left sound respectively and the yellow carries the video.

i have 2 yellows 2 reds and 2 whites and i am putting them in the rite colors but its not working. help!
