What do people think when they receive online birthday greeting cards?

I want to send them but I am not sure.

I could not afford to send everyone I know a store bought birthday card. For family, close personal friends, and occasionally an acquaintance, a real card. For everybody else, an online greeting card with a well thought out note is sufficient. I don't mind when I get them from people I rarely see. Shouldn't be a problem for you either.

I have only sent one a single time. But I have to admit I received one myself one time and while I thought it was cute and sweet, it almost made me feel like they were too lazy to go to a store to get my card.

I tend to think it's sweet if I know that the person sending them would have difficulty sending a real card - if not I think they aren't trying.

It's nice to know that somebody is thinking of you. But online birthday cards tend to have ads or spyware on them, so I don't like them all that much. I'd much rather get a paper card with a handwritten note that I can keep, than something that is just on the computer.

Birthday greeting cards are totally appropriate! It's great to e-send a greeting card for any occasion. Remember, it is the thought that counts!
