I would first advise that the person you plan to date is more than his or her sexual identity. The fact that he or she identifies as transsexual is only one aspect the person's life. Before going on the date, feel free to do some general research online though.

This is an extremely controversial topic. A transsexual is someone who was born one gender but identifies and feels more comfortable as the opposite gender.

Look online for information to answer any questions you have. It is good to find out what questions are considered rude. If you have a close friend who is transsexual, you might be able to ask them for advice. But you should treat it just like dating any other person -- have fun and maybe fall in love.

See if they are interested in a man or woman (or both) and see if they are dating anybody. And remember in the end, they are a human, and want to be treated like everybody else in this world.
