First the weight limit for your truck. Then what the camper will be used for and how often. The number of people using it and the comfort level you expect are also important. Consider also whether the camper needs to be self contained (have own power and water sources) or if you will be using it where power/water are available.

The most important thing to remember is the payload of your pickup truck. You don't want to buy a camper that is too heavy for your truck to tow.

You need to keep in mind what size mirrors you have for your truck and if you will need to purchase new extended mirrors to install on your truck. The second thing you need to know is if the camper is designed for your truck or will fit in the bed of your truck.

Your budget is the most important thing; do some shopping around and understand what the average cost of what you want is before you actually make a purchase. Keep size and durability into consideration, too.
