This is a very personal decision. If you are going to date during the separation, then take it off, but if you wish to remain single then wear it.

If you are still married you should wear your ring. Until the marriage is terminated you should behave as if you are married.

The ring means a promise. When it's broken, then it shouldn't be worn. But, you can choose now to have it on a necklace,too.

A separation is a time away from each other to see if the marriage can be salvaged. However, both parties are still married to each other, so under the circumstances of a separation the ring should still be worn.
