What do I do if the CD player cover/door won't stay closed on my Teac CD X8?

What I did was just get the end of a tooth pick and break it off so it holds the door down. Or you could use a small piece of duct tape or electrical tape to get to stay shut. Replacing the spring may help too. Try taking the door off to see what the problem is.

The main cause of the problem is the spring of the door unit is broken or released from its place. If it is released then you have to fix it properly. If it is broken then you have to buya new one. But it is hard in electronics shop.

According to the instruction manual, "the CD player will accept commercial audio CD's bearing the 'Compact Disc Digital Audio logo" and "properly finalized CD-R discs." Some CD-R discs won't be playable, CD-RW discs won't work, and copy-protected and non-standard discs won't work, either. Further, non-circle shaped discs like hearts, ovals, octagons, etc. can damage the CD-XR.

If the cover on your CF player will not stay closed than it probably will not work you should have a repairman take a look at it to fix it.
