Cleanse the area with soap and water to remove debris. Apply an anti-infective cream or ointment to the area, such as neosporin. Cover with a bandage of the appropriate size, not too tightly. Once bandaged, you can take an over the counter pain medication for the pain. Monitor the area for signs of infection. Call a doctor if it worsens.
