Chinese Embroidery will most often be done with silk thread. Typically in high quality as in highly experienced emboiders and their dense style of full cover and brilliant colour. Always fully exploiting the beaty of gold thread and the equisit originality of the Asia style.

Chinese embroidery is done in silk thread, typically on silk fabric, and is often very densely embroidered fabric where the embroidery covers the majority of the cloth. It often has rich tones and lots of gold thread.

One way to distinguish Chinese embroidery from other types of embroidery is its use of stitches that go through the fabric itself (as opposed to a stitch that lies on top of the fabric).

According to Chinese documentary I've seen on the bast on TV, what makes Chinese embroidery different from others,is that all of them are handmade by crafter with a lot of experience and that learned the art of embroidery from generations to generations. Embroidery is one of those millenarian traditions of China's culture.

The book could be referring to either the style (Asian designs) or done by people in Asia. Asian embroiderers almost always use silk. The Chinese do have a lot of stitches, but overall, there is no difference.
