Most often, when you feel pain in your head while standing it's caused by pressure to the sinuses. Does the pain alleviate once you begin to walk? If so, you may have a strain or pinched nerve in your neck, which can cause pain when standing and increase over time.

It could just mean that you are getting up to quickly, causing the blood to rush into that area, which causes a slight pain and even blurred vision or dizziness. It could also be more serious, check with your doctor if you are concerned.

If you have a slight annoyance somewhere in the throat or neck area your brain can become slightly irritated and is very sensitive to changes in blood pressure. When you stand up, your blood pressure goes down. Some medications can cause similar symptoms. If the pain continues for 2 days, you should probably contact your doctor.

I think of low blood pressure gravity pushing blood pressure to your lower extremites. My suggestion not to move so radpidly when changing positions. Seek medical help if this continues.

This pain is probably just related to blood rushing out of your brain when you stand up. Gravity bring the blood down if you stand up too fast. The best thing to do is actually just take your time standing up and not go as fast. If you are really worried, you should ask your doctor.

I had very painful episodes when bending down or sneezing/coughing...pain seemed to be in the side of the head..I thought it was sinus problem but after seeing all the various specialists..it turned out to be muscular..my back/shoulders/neck were all tied up in knots...I had a few massage sessions..magic!

A good reason for this may be your blood pressure. If your blood pressure drops too low it can cause pain in the head upon standing. Some medicines may also be a factor in this as well.

You might be getting up too fast and you're giving yourself a head rush (blood rushing to your head to fast). Next time get up slowly and see what happens.

You could have low blood pressure. When you stand up the blood rushes from your head and can leave either a light headed/dizzy feeling or pain.
