My advise is to consult a physician. However, a condition called Trichodynia may be the culprit. This condition causes pain, burning and sometimes hair loss. Nerves innervating scalp hair follicles transmit messages to the brain that follicles no longer are hairless. Other factors are: stress, depression and anxiety.

Autoimmune conditons such as lupus, infectious diseases, thyroid conditions, even stress and anxiety can affect the body's ability to produce hair. Scalp pain, often described as burning pain, is sometimes associated with hair loss. Empty scalp hair follicles send messages to the brain resulting in pain much like phantom limb pain in amputees.
