Some causes of anal bleeding in dogs are injury (a cut), cancer (a tumor), garbage gut (your dog ate something sharp it wasn't supposed to, and now it's having trouble passing it), and most likely is an anal gland abscess and/or rupture. See your vet.

It could be as minor as having an improper diet and the diet leaving the dog constipated. It could also mean that there is something more serious going on with your dog. If it is something cancerous it could still lead to anal bleeding. A trip to the vet would be appropriate.

Anal bleeding in dogs could be a scratch or something that is more serious such as a serious disease. If you do not know of or see a scratch or if bleeding continues it is highly recommended that you take your dog to the vet.

Dogs light people can develop Internal Hemoroids. If one busts it can cause anal bleeding and blood in the stool. It could also indicate something more serious altogether though. It is best to have your dog checked out by a vet to be sure. It could also indicate an infection as well.
