You can troubleshoot this by trying to hook up an external monitor. If you hook it up and it displays on an external monitor, then either the LCD screen itself burnt out, or the monitor ribbon has been crimped or severed. If it does not display, then it is most likely the video card.

Troubleshoot this by hooking up a external monitor. Then this could either determine whether LCD screen burnt out or are monitor crimped or severed. If it don't display it could be the video card. For this situation consult a trained and licensed electronics experts.

For electronic questions like this i would refer to either the user manual or consult a trained and licensed electronics expert, as there are many types, and this is broad.

If it is truely blank, it is likely a wiring problem. If you can squint and barely see your desktop, it may be a backlight issue. Get it profesionaly serviced.

You could have a short in the hinge where the LCD connects to the rest of the laptop. You could have a short in the Cathode lighting, making the screen seem like it's completely dark. You could also have a short between the LCD controller, and the LCD. In which case, I'd recommend replacing the LCD.

It could be something with the LCD screen, maybe the bulb is at the end of its lifetime and it can't stay on for any longer than it does.
