What could be the cause of problems with my cat's pupils?

My cat's pupils are two different sizes. I'm concerned that this may be causing vision or other problems.

Are they always two different sizes? It could be a brain function problem. If you are seeing other symptoms of poor brain function, and even if you aren't you should take your cat to the vet. My vet has always been sympathetic to my worries, even if they were nothing.

If your cat's pupils are dialated it may indicate a problem like glaucoma or an infection of the eye. Worst case senario your cat has a brain tumor and needs to see a vet immediately.

Cats like humans should have the same size pupils. You should see a vet as cat could have an inflammation, an injury of the central nervous system, a tumor or other diseases. Best to have it checked and catch whatever it is early.

Pupils respond to light in the environment where the cat is located. Glaucoma may be the cause. If the optic nerve is not damaged, different breeds or the cat's mood may play a role in the function of pupil. If the symptom persists or affects your cat's eyesight negatively, bring him or her to a vet.
