You could have a tendon that needs to be stretched. Try performing stretching exercises such as the cobbler's stretch, hurdler's stretch; anything that helps elasticize the hamstrings will help with performing kicks. You could also have "undernourished" joints--in this case, try taking calcium supplements, usually available online or at a local vitamin shop.

Believe it or not, there are gas bubbles in your joints. The liquid portion always seems to have bubble. When you get older like me it isn't nearly the problem. Less liquid, less flexiibilty, so be happy you get pops and enjoy your exercise confident that there is nothing wrong.

Popping sounds in your knee is one of two things, it is the same as your knuckles cracking. the other is that you do not have enough water in you

That means that you have air or a misalignment in the joint of the leg. You should get an MRI on the leg to see if there is any damage.

Popping sounds in the joints are usually a sign of tendon or ligament damage. Start waring a brace while performing martial arts and if things get worse, see your doctor.

It could be the cartlidge in your leg moving slightly, or rubbing against another piece of cartlidge. Its perfectly normal, so there is nothing to worry about. It's the same concept as popping knuckles.

As long as you weren't seriously injured, it probably was just a muscle or joint getting stretched or pulled the wrong way.

Your joints are probably not used to high kicks. Make sure you are stretching daily, that is a part of being able to kick high. i wouldnt worry about anything its just that your joints arent used to it and u need to stretch. If it doesnt cause pain, dont worry about it, try taking a joint supplement.
