Everyone suffers from tooth pain from time to time. On occasion the pain being felt in one tooth may not have anything to do with that particular tooth. This is called referred pain and is caused by the complicated nature of our nerve structures. Basically, the nerves become inflamed and excite the entire nerve bundle causing pain in another area.

Possibly another tooth on the same nerve branch or something else in the area. A sore throat perhaps? An ulcer in the general vicinity. A sore jaw joint - tempro mandibular joint. Speak to your dentist. But it will be on the same side as the pain - referred pain never crosses the midline

There is a number of things that can cause pain in a tooth. It could be a cavity, fracture on the tooth or the tooths root. I would recommend going to a dentist to find out what it is. They will be able to find out why and how to get it better.

Your dentist should do an x-ray to rule out tooth decay/infection. An infected or congested sinus (seen on an x-ray) can press on a tooth nerve Thin enamel causes sensitivity in teeth and some people are highly sensitive to tooth whiteners. Are you clenching or grinding?

"Referred pain" is caused by something wrong elsewhere than where it is hurting. Teeth often hurt from sinus pressure caused by an infection or just being stuffed up. Other ear, nose and throat issues can make teeth hurt, too.

It can be a cavity, a decay in the tooth, an abcess in the tooth, or maybe your tooth is cracked. I would suggest you follow-up with a dentist.

This situation sounds like it's caused by a cavity. Cavities seem to be one of the worse pains in the tooth as it deteriorates until it reaches the gums.

There could be various reason for tooth pain, such as cavities, teeth sensitives, and abscess and various factors. Only a professional dentist could pinpoint the cause of your pain.
