What could be causing my Grand Am engine to hesitate?

I have noticed a hesitation in my engine, it is always when I am on the expressway.

I'm just speculating here especially since I don't know the year of your car but it could be that the engine has been used for too long on the same ignition and fuel components, usually these components are relatively easy to replace and not very expensive to purchase. Grab new wires, a distributor cap, and sparkplugs to gain extra power.

When was the last time you got a tune up this may solve the problem with the hesitation. It could also be a clog in your gas line.

Most hesitation is caused by a misfire or timing issue. Check over the engine for damage and do a tune up. Pay special attention to the plugs making sure they are gapped right and are worn. If the plugs are fine then you may have a coil problem.

You need to take it in to see if there is something seriously wrong with the car. It maybe something very serious, so get it checked out before it really needs a repair.
