Swollen eyes with discharge is often a sign of an eye infection (conjunctivitus). Eye infections are highly contagious and can spread from animal to animal. This will require a visit to your vet to obtain antibiotic drops, just as it would in humans. After you start using the drops the infection should clear up in about 2 weeks.

A kitten typically will have a swollen eye with discharge because they have an upper respiratory infection which is highly contagious not only to other kittens in the household, but also to adults and children that occupy the same household. It is very important in this instance to get the kitten to a veterinarian immediately for treatment.

The cat must have had a hit with a sharp object or in a fight with its foe it would have got hurt. Some eye infection is also to be considered. If the cat continuously scratching the eye or lying in a place without food might cause blindness.when it fell down must have struck an object with its eye.

This might be the result of some sort of injury, but it is much more likely to be an infection. Animals get eye infections a variety of different ways, and they are common. They can also be very serious, however. If the eye is seriously swollen and is having a discharge, the kitten needs to be on antibiotics.
