What causes lights to flare when I'm taking photos?

If the sun is facing your camera and not behind it or is too bright. Or the flash on the camera is turned on.

It depends on your camera's quality and also the lighting on the background. Sometimes if you are wearing certain accessories, then the light will flare from the lens and into your photos.

Improper light balance or shutter speeds. Make sure to set your light balance to the foreground lights, not the background for a better picture.
