Canker sores do not have a single definitive cause. Usually though the causes can be broken down into a few key categories. It is important to practice good oral hygeine as bacterial infections can cause canker sores. Stress has also been linked to their development as well as hormonal disorders. Certain mediciations have also been linked including ibuproufen.

There is no known definite cause for canker sores but there are many ways a person can get them. They can develop by accidently biting the inside of your cheek (which I used to do as a child! ), vitamin deficiencies or wearing orthodontic devices are a few of the many ways canker sores can develop.

Canker sores are caused by viruses. They may also be a result of easier foods that are too acidic or that are too spicy.
