Black? That could be a cavity in that case you need to see your dentist. Plaque behind your tooth is causes by not getting your tooth brush back there enough and not flossing.

It's called tooth decay! It happens when you don't keep your teeth and mouth clean. Your teeth are rotting away, and the only thing you can do now is see a dentist, or have them pulled out. It might be too late already if they are black! Seriously, that black stuff can be toxic. Get to a dentist now!

The causes are varied and generally associated with your lifestyle. Coffee or dark sodas, iron deposits from drinking water, smoking, and even too much fluoride can be the cause.

You are probably not brushing your teeth as well as you should be cleaning them. Brushing the back of your teeth is just as important as the front of them. Every part of you teeth need to be cleaned with your tooth brush. You might also need a new toothbrush.
