What can you tell me about the way trust distribution works when a spouse dies?

My father recently passed away and my mother is clueless on how this will work.

The manner in which trust is distributed depends upon the specific options detailed when the trust was set up initially. The attorney or executor of the trust can provide you or your mother with all the details of how the funds will be disbursed now that your dad has passed away.

The assets of a trust are usually owned by the trust itself, and under the control of whoever is designated as the trustee for the benefit of the designated beneficiaries. How this will work in your case depends on how his specific trust was written.

This completely depends on the terms of the trust. You would need to contact the holder, for example if a bank manages the trust, of the trust and the trustee.

Property or anything of value left in trust will be awarded to the person named in his Trust. This is normally done without a will.

Well, from my understanding the distribution will be passed on directly to your mom. She's going to receive all of the funds.
