Julius Caesar was a popular Roman general and politician in the first century BC. In 44, his political rise climaxed in his declaration of himself as "dictator in perpetuity." His opponents, fearing the return of a tyrannical monarchy, joined together to kill him and remove him from power.

Julius Caesar's assassination took place on March the 15th 44bc. The assassination was a politically motivated murder, involving most of the Roman senate. The senator most associated with Caeser's murder was Brutus, the reason for Brutuses association was owing to the fact that he was a good friend of Caeser's.
