What can you tell me about butternut squash flowers?

My butternut squash plant has an odd flower on it.

The flower is yellow to yellow-orange in color and looks like five wrinkly petals that have all been connected halfway down.

Each flower on your plant is a squash, if you find that you will have too many of them, then you can remove the flowers early and be able to contol the amount your plant produces. If you want a lot then leave them on the plant, if you want less, then remove some.

Butternut squash plants have two types of flowers, male and female. The female flowers will only produce mature squash after being fertilized by pollen from the male flowers. This can be done manually using a brush or directly or you can leave it up to the bees.  add a comment

These plants need a lot of care when it comes to water patterns. Make sure you water on a daily basis
