Never approach a bear, make eye contact, turn your back, or run away. In an attack try to look big, make noise, and find something to throw or hit the bear. In the worst case, go into the fetal position and protect your head and organ region. Carry bear spray!

First thing you never do is run. Many people swear that playing dead saved their lives during bear attacks. Most of the time, but not always, loud noises will scare a bear off. If you can, pick up something and hit at the bear's face. Never go around cubs because you can bet their mother is close.

I think you will be fine. As long as you don't have any food in an open container. However, if a bear encounter does occur I have been told to just slowly back away. Bears usually don't attack humans.

if a bear comes into your camp, which it really shouldnt unless you leave food lying around, make loud noises and try to seem more frightening than it is. bang a pot and try to appear bigger.
