Have the coil replaced. Replace the spark plugs, and spark plug wires while you're at it. It should pretty much eliminate ignition issues.

This is actually a common problem in a lot of vehicles. Simply replace the coil or ignitor. You can pick the part up at any automotive store and it can be done yourself.

If you do not want to take to a qualified mechanic, you might as well ignite the gas tank and put the thing out of it's misery.
