Stink bugs such as the Box Elder Bug frequently invade buildings when weather turns cold in the fall. The best prevention against these unwelcome guests is to find their points of entry and seal out the bugs, using caulk and other repair or insulating materials. Use your vacuum cleaner on the ones you find indoors.

As with any invasion of unwanted critters and insects, the best route to take is to contact a professional. Often, products purchased at department stores do not kill all strains of insects. A professional will be able to use the correct baits, poisons, and advice on how to properly proceed.

The most organic way to control stink bugs, is to squish as many of them as possible by hand. Do this at least twice a day. Squish them while wearing gardening gloves. This will seem overwhelming at first but you will eventually get their numbers under control without any chemicals.
