What can help soreness as a result of weight lifting?

I have started exercising and am very sore.

Muscle soreness is common in people just beginning exercising. In the short-term, Icy-hot, BioFreeze, or ibuprofin are all effective at relieving pain and soreness.

Work another body muscle...... you should never work the same muscle everyday anyways, so if say your chest is hurting, focus on your biceps. If your biceps are hurting, focus on your shoulders. Work each body part once a week, and then give it a break until the next week.

You can take any kind of over-the-counter medicine designed to reduce muscle pain, including aspirin, tylenol, aleve, etc.
