What can be done to help my chihuahua that has a problem with her back hip?

First, immobilize the hip, keeping the dog as calm as possible. Second, Try to determine what has taken place to injure the hip. Third, contact a vet and explain what is going on with the dog's hip. Fourth, transport the dog to to vet's office for him/her to determine the best treatment for your dog.

Take her to the vet to see if there is an underlying problem that you cannot see. If it's just arthritis or old age then you can find plenty of supplements out there that can help ease her pain and soften her joints.

Studies show that therapeutic massage is beneficial to dogs who have joint and muscular issues. A firm but gentle massage will help your chihuahua relax the muscles. Also consider making or purchasing pet stairs and get heated bedding for his/her favorite sleeping places.
