What can be done about thin front gums?

If this is a new occurrence, then it sounds like you are having a gingivitis problem. Prolonged poor tooth and gum care can cause the tissues to shrink back from the teeth. You'll need to start flossing and brushing more regularly.

If It's been there since you adult teeth came in it may be a genetic problem. If it's bad enough a Gingival graft may be required.

If there is heavy calculus deposit causing inflamation in that area and causing the gingiva to become thin and recede, then deep ultrasoic scaling needs to be done first. Following this a free ginigival graft can be placed to ehance the esthitic value of that part of the mouth.
