Depending on the time of the year, watering of the affected area should be decreased or increased - amounts and seasons can be researched as it is different for different areas. There are also chemical treatments that can be used in the damaged areas that aid in preventing of grubs, which would halt the damage.

Afteryou kill the grubs, you should avoid traffic on the affected area. Then you can water, fertilize and overseed to get your lawn back. If the lawn is damaged too much already, you will have to till, apply starter fertilizer, seed, and harrow the seed in. Then water until the grass is established.

your best bet is to find the areas that were damaged by the grubs and reseed those areas respectively. especially since grubs stop feeding in May.
