I think it is generally accepted that a cross, like the "blue-cross" style, is meant to represent a hospital. The universal chocking sign is to have your hands around your throat. Good luck!

the universal heath and safety symbol you should know are basically three: 1) The capital H for HOSPITAL; 2) the snake and the cup, universal symbol for a chemist shop; 3) the green cross, especially for Italy, is the symbol for chemists shops.
