What are the TSA requirements for someone under 18 that is traveling by air?

I need to know what to expect for my underage child that will be flying soon.

Airlines have different requirements for this. Some require children 15 and under to be escorted by a flight attendant, in this case you have to pay an extra $100. Others require this for children 14 and under. Airlines need the name of the person picking up the child in advance.

Contact the airline for specific age requirements and flight information. Children under five may not travel alone, age 8-11 have restrictions and children 12-17 can fly alone.
