Excess iron can happen following a drastic diet change or taking iron supplements without consent from a doctor. The symptoms of iron excess can vary between men and women and age. Symptoms may include: fatigue, abdominal pain, weakness, unexplained weight loss, pain in the joints. Prolong iron excess can lead to arthritis, liver cancer, diabetes, and even heart failure.

Excess iron can cause lethargy, irritation of the stomach (causing nausea and possibly vomiting in very large doses), joint pain and heart palpitations.

I have taken iron supplements when pregnant and they led to constipation and extremely hard stools. You might also have some stomach pain.
