Atenolol treats high blood pressure and fast heart rate. Side effects include problems with depression. If dosed to high, it can cause too low of a heart rate or too low of a blood pressure. Hypotension, the term for low blood pressure, can cause you to feel faint or even pass out.

Atenolol is used to treat certain heart conditions like angina or hypertension/ high blood pressure. Possible side effects of Atenolol are dizziness/ fainting, feeling short of breath, swollen feet and ankles, nausea, depression, feeling fold in your hands and feet, feeling tired or not tired at all (insomnia), anxiety and decreased sex drive.
