What are the reasons a store won't accept my card?

The store would not give me a reason.

Well to start, you could be overdrawn. If it's not that, they may not accept your card. If it's a credit card, some stores don't tale credit. If none of the above, the magnetic strip may be damaged preventing the card from reading. Try at a differant store.

It is up to the individual store as to what cards they are willing to accept and if they have chosen not to accept yours for reasons of their own there is really nothing you can do about it.

There are a few common reasons for this, although they should be able to tell you why. The most common reason is the card is declined or expired. Some stores will stop accepting a certain type of card altogether, typically because of high transaction fees from the card.

There are many possibilities. They might not accept that sort of card. They may have checked, and the transaction been denied by the card issuer. They might also have wrongly suspected that the card was stolen.
