The basics are a high school diploma or equivalent and great customer service skills. Most airlines will not hire anyone under the age of 21 as a flight attendant and you must be able to pass a background check.

Most flight attendants need a high school education. The qualifications aren't very high because the airlines will give you a full training program. This includes several classes and safety training.

At the minimum, being a U. S. citizen or registered alien with work rights, a GED or better, willingness to relocate if needed, good interpersonal skills, a clean criminal background, mainstream appearance and the ability to get a passport. Being multi-lingual, having a higher education and work experience will help.

To become a flight attendant, you have to have great people skills; you need to be very comfortable in social situations and you need the ability to quickly resolve issues. Also, remember that your job is almost like a salesperson in that you're selling a product, except the product is the experience on the flight.
